Mate’s documentation, part research-based, part anecdotal, on the intricate link between stress and illness is like a massive commentary on Psalm 32:3 - “When I kept silent, my bones wasted away.”  He demonstrates, not always conclusively but almost always compellingly, that even seemingly genetic diseases such as MS and ALS appear connected with unresolved issues trauma, anger and guilt.  It has helped me as a pastor to be more aware of how fearfully and wonderfully made we are, and that there is finally no dichotomy between the body and the spirit.  As a man thinkest, so he is.
